Recently, Hainan Provincial Development and Reformation Commission announced the Start-up List of 2023 Provincial Engineering Research Centers. The Hainan Engineering Research Center for New Energy and Intelligent Vehicle ( the Center), led by School of New Energy and Intelligent Networked Vehicle to apply, is approved for start-up after the process of material examination, application defense, expert review, and other links. As the first provincial engineering research center approved for start-up in University of Sanya, the Center aims to the in-depth implementation of integration of industry and university and the innovation development strategy as well as the acceleration of innovation ability to serve Hainan Free Trade Port construction.
The School of New Energy and Intelligent Networked Vehicle is responsible for setting up the Hainan Engineering Research Center for New Energy and Intelligent Vehicle. The Center will establish into a leading new energy innovation base of Hainan Free Trade Port by working with University of Sanya and Geely Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group Ltd., focusing on technological research and development and industry service in the areas of new energy vehicle, methanol fuel, Smart Networking Vehicle with the support of Lab of Battery, Electric Control and Electric Motor of New Energy Vehicle, Lab of New Energy Science and Engineering, Lab of Vehicle Chip and Lab of Smart Net-working Vehicle. The Center has been invested for 25 million RMB at the first stage, and its total construction area will be 6000 square meters.

The construction of the Center will be an important part of scientific and technological system of University of Sanya.
