On April 26-27, the Second Working Meeting of the Alliance of the Thirteen Associations of Sino-Russian Universities was held in University of Sanya (USY). This year’s meeting was jointly sponsored by the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) of China and St. Petersburg State University of Economics (SPSU) of Russia, and co-organized by USY and the other 12 associations’ initiators of on Chinese side with the support of the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of Ministry of Education.
The Second Working Meeting was held at Shushan Hall of USY on the afternoon of 26th April. The Director of the Department of International Relations moderated the opening ceremony, and Professor Wu Jun, Dean of Institute of Regional and International Studies, Ms. Tatiana Urzhumtseva, Head of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing co-moderated the following sessions. This year’s meeting was conducted in the hybrid way with the member university leaders among the 13 Associations attending the meeting online.
At the opening session, Xi Ru, the head of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education of China, Yu Changxue, Chief of China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of Ministry of Education of China, Zhao Zhongxiang, President of the University of International Business and Economics, Tang Zhenfu, Director of the Education Department of Hainan Province’s International Office, and Wang Dan, Executive President of the University of Sanya delivered speeches. Ms. Tatiana Urzhumtseva, the Director read out the speech on behalf of the Deputy Minister of Science and Education of Russia, and Ms. Bukhtiyarova Tatyana, Dean of Chinese School of Moscow State University read out the speech on behalf of the Rector of the University.
Xi Ru mentioned that since the Alliance of the Thirteen Associations of Sino-Russian Universities was the higher education institution cooperation network with the largest member universities in the world, all member universities would find ways to enhance continuously the work capability and efficiency to raise the cooperation and interaction to a new level within and among the Associations through this meeting.
In the speech of the Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, he urged to further the implementation of new and practical cooperation projects, expand exchanges between faculties and students of the two countries, and contribute to the innovative development of Sino-Russian education and humanities cooperation.
Yu Changxue encouraged all members of the Alliance would design and implement the projects to secure more achievements in the areas of talent cultivation, research, social service and digital education, and others.
Tang Zhenfu said that the governments and educational authorities attached great importance to the educational cooperation with foreign educational institutions and he hoped the meeting would explore new path of international education innovation and boost the input of quality educational resources home and abroad.
Zhao Zhongxiu said that the member universities had developed themselves and gained fruitful results both in cooperative levels and quality since the first meeting held in 2022 and this year’s meeting would aim to explore innovative cooperative mechanism and ways and inject new impetus for the Alliance’s development. Wang Dan expressed her gratitude on behalf of USY for the support for the holding the Second Meeting at USY.
In the following sessions, the attending representatives of the 13 associations’ initiators of on both sides gave their speeches centered around the themes of cooperative process of the association, innovative experiences in the association construction, promotion of path design in Sino-Russian educational exchange, and strengthening Sino-Russian people-to-people exchanges.
The Alliance of the Thirteen Associations of Sino-Russian Universities consists of 13 associations of universities categorized by disciplines or geographic regions, with more than 700 participating institutions on both sides. USY joined the Association of Sino-Russian Economic Universities in 2018 and actively participated in various activities organized by the Association, which also further promoted the exchanges and cooperation between USY and Russian universities.
